Local Liberal Democrat MP for Brent East Sarah Teather has welcomed Sir Kenneth Hall, Governor General of Jamaica, and Burchell Whiteman O.J., High Commissioner of Jamaica, to Brent.

The High Commissioner and Governor were visiting the Learie Constantine Centre in Dudden Hill, to speak about their experiences with young people and to recognise Jamaican achievement.

Local Brent East Liberal Democrat MP Sarah Teather said:

"It was a real honour to welcome Sir Kenneth and his wife to Brent and to the Learie Constantine Centre.

"Local people are very proud of Brent's extraordinary diversity. It's important to take a moment to pay tribute to the huge contribution that the long standing Jamaican and West Indian community have made to making Brent the place that it is.

"It was good to hear his excellencies views about supporting young people. All too often we let young people down by demonising them instead of celebrating their achievements.

"I hope that Sir Kenneth Hall and Burchell Whiteman enjoyed their visit to our unique part of London as much as we enjoyed having them."
