Local MP Sarah Teather supports good causes in Brent

Local Brent East Liberal Democrat MP Sarah Teather has congratulated Brent volunteers on the contribution they make to the borough.

Sarah attended the Brent Active Citizens Awards Ceremony at Brent Town Hall, where certificates were presented to local volunteers by the Brent Active Citizens Project.

The project aims to encourage local people to get involved in the community, by providing basic skills training and work experience. They provide volunteering opportunities and support with both training and finding a job.

Local Brent East Liberal Democrat MP Sarah Teather said:

"I was delighted to attend the Brent Active Citizens Awards Ceremony, and to meet so many people with hugely inspiring stories to tell.

"Many people in Brent find volunteering an important way to improve their confidence after they have been ill or away from work. I applaud those who opened their doors to volunteers who were trying to get their lives back on track.

"It's great to see people giving up their time for such important Brent causes. These are the people who make Brent such a great place to live."
