Sarah and local Liberal Democrats are fighting for Brent's libraries

Liberal Democrat MP for Brent East Sarah Teather has welcomed a huge cash investment into Brent Libraries, after threats of closure from the previous Labour run Council.

In 2003 Labour made plans to close several libraries across the borough, including Tokyington, Cricklewood, Kensal Rise and Barham Library in Sudbury. But Liberal Democrats on Brent Council have now axed these plans and have instead announced a £1.7million refurbishment of Harlesden Library.

Neasden library will also receive a £180,000 revamp.

Local Liberal Democrat MP for Brent East Sarah Teather said:

"Labour should be ashamed of their record, having have left us with one of the worse funded library services in London. It's great that local Liberal Democrats are prepared to fight for Brent's libraries.

"Many people have told me how much they value their local library. The huge injection of cash means we can finally do up our libraries to a decent standard, which should encourage even more people to use these precious resources."
