Local MP Sarah Teather brought the Leader of the Liberal Democrats, Sir Ming Campbell, to Central Middlesex Hospital in Brent to see first hand the important work the hospital does for the borough.

Sarah, Ming Campbell and local by-election candidate Sandra Wiltshire toured the Rainbow Children's Centre and the Accident & Emergency Department.

Staff explained how the Accident and Emergency Service at Central Middlesex and Northwick Park is amongst the busiest in the country.

Liberal Democrat MP for Brent East Sarah Teather said:

"The staff at Central Middlesex hospital do a great job for people in Brent. The services they provide are absolutely essential.

"I was pleased that Ming Campbell was able to see first hand how strongly local people value the hospital."

Liberal Democrat Leader Sir Menzies Campbell said:

"Hardworking staff are the backbone of our NHS. I was delighted to be invited to Brent by Sarah Teather to see the excellent facilities at Central Middlesex Hospital.

"It's so important that the hospital is properly resourced so it can go on serving the people of Brent well into the future."

Sir Menzies added:

"I was also delighted to meet Sandra Wiltshire. Sandra is a first rate candidate who would be an excellent champion for the people of Stonebridge."
