Sarah Teather with Lib Dem MPs take the fight to save local Post Offices to Downing Street

Liberal Democrat by-election candidate for Brent East Sarah Teather today handed nearly a thousand local signatures into 10 Downing Street to protest at the proposed closure of the Brondesbury Post office in Kilburn High Road.

Over the last month, people from all walks of life and across the political spectrum have voiced their concerns about the closure of the Brondesbury Road Post Office and have helped to campaign to prevent its closure.

Sarah Teather said, "The Brondesbury Post Office is part of the life blood of the local community around Kilburn High Road. It is time Ministers and the Post Office listen to the concerns of residents and keep this post office open."

"So far the actions of the Post Office have given the strong impression that closures have been pre-determined. Their attitude makes a mockery of the consultation process. It's time the Post Office was more open and honest about its plans."

"Piecemeal closures will result in growing gaps in the network. The elderly, the disabled and families who rely on post office services will suffer. It's time the Post Office stopped drawing circles on maps, with no local knowledge and started listening to local people."
